Native to Asia in general but also to India, Malaysia and Australia , Hoya carnosa tricolor is relatively easy to grow provided that they are guaranteed a good level of humidity.

This cultivar is particularly beautiful due to its vibrant colours ranging from the green of its leaves, to the white which runs through them and, more surprisingly, to the red of its young stems!

When you receive the branches to be replanted, simply stick them halfway into the potting soil . Hoyas root relatively easily and quickly, provided you keep the potting soil moist but not waterlogged!

Also available in a pot .

Cultivation and maintenance of Hoya carnosa tricolor for transplanting

Substrate for Hoya

The location of your Hoya carnosa tricolor will greatly affect its substrate requirements. You can use either a professional quality horticultural soil or a special mixture composed of 50% blond peat , 25% horticultural soil and 25% perlite .

Xaxim, whether in a plate or pot , is also an excellent solution as a growing medium because the root system of Hoyas in general grows very vigorously there.

Temperatures

Hoya carnosa tricolor does not like temperatures that are too low. Do not let it go below 10°C, possibly 0°C but very occasionally. As long as it does not suffer from a lack of water, it will tolerate high temperatures but will grow less well above 30°C.

Watering Hoya carnosa tricolor

Like many other Hoyas, Hoya carnosa tricolor appreciates osmosis water or rainwater. Make sure to never have water in the saucer and space out waterings sufficiently so that the surface of the substrate dries between two waterings. Respect a vegetative rest in winter by spacing waterings two weeks apart depending on the size of your pot.

Ideal brightness

This Hoya appreciates strong light but without direct sunlight . A partial shade exposure can also be suitable but will see your Hoya carnosa tricolor grow much less quickly.

Fertilizer

In spring and summer, it is beneficial to spray the plant with foliar fertilizer diluted to a quarter, twice a month.
