Here are the cultivation tips for carnivorous plants of the GENLISEA genus. Some species require different treatment whether for watering, repotting, lighting... These particularities are noted at the level of each plant description in the GENLISEA store.
Temperature
From 5 to 40°C all year round. Prefers cool nights.
Water
Use only rainwater, demineralized or osmosis. Water that is too hard will cause the plant to die in a few weeks. Do not use bottled water, as it generally contains too much salt, which is harmful to the plant. Place the plant in a saucer containing water.
Fertilizer
To be totally avoided! The plant provides for its own organic nutrient needs thanks to its traps.
Brightness
High brightness all year round. Avoid direct sunlight. Indoors, artificial light is very beneficial or even essential.
Substrate
Genlisea lobata x violacea requires a substrate that will allow it to anchor itself but it must be able to let the plant's traps develop. To do this, use a mixture of blond peat and coarse sand (2 to 6 mm) (1V/10V). Use relatively deep perforated plastic pots.
